The Collaborative, co-operative and collective work and events space that is now Coopers&Co in Bourne End Marina has kicked off with Native Feasts this ‘Spring’. Right now, while writing this, the sun is shining and we are thoroughly optimistic. This space is fantastic. There is loads of light flooding in and it gets the creative juices flowing. It is ideal for working in too, more about that potential in a later.
The Native Feasts pop-up is currently happening on Fridays and Saturdays here at Coopers&Co. It is the perfect opportunity for locals to try a different chef and awesome front of house team. They are superbly welcoming and the cocktail to start was delicious and served with the best smiles. I had a whiskey sour style cocktail with perfect balance of yumminess to set a great tone for the night. The décor was finished off with a little Native flair including some seasonal daffodils that added some extra pops of colour to the tables.
Then out came some mouth-watering treats. Mackerel tartare and wonton & sesame char sui sticks. This set us up nicely for the Salmon ravioli, café de Paris butter, bhei puri – the sauce on this was absolutely stand out. We then moved on to the Beef short, charred hispy cabbage, smoked beans and bone marrow. This was a superb melt in the mouth dish. The sticky glaze on the beef was outstanding, but the charred hispy cabbage cut through it beautifully and teamed up with the smoked beans provided a match made in heaven. The finale was light fluffy puffs of yummy donuts with an amazing Blood orange posset. Both creamy and tart! A very happy, charming evening that will boost anyone’s March weekend.
